Cat of the Semester:
Kiki
Kiki's Story:
Kiki first came to the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine programs in October of 2018 as a little kitten with the Feral Cat Project's Trap Neuter Release program. From there she was taken into PAWS which would later combine with SAFE to become the Student Chapter of the Association of Shelter Veterinarians at RUSVM. We are also called the Shelter Med club.
Kiki spent a long time in our organization waiting for the perfect person to come along and even rode out the initial lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic with her foster. She was spayed in 2020 by the FCP and was in perfect health!
Then in December of 2020, Kiki was about to be adopted by a loving student who adored her. However, she got a little too curious about the outside world and went exploring. Everyone looked for Kiki for weeks, hoping to find her hiding in a bush and scared. Kiki was a little more brave than we expected and was exploring far from her home. Six months later in May of 2021, someone spotted Kiki at the top of Timothy Hill and was able to grab her. She was quickly taken to BARC to scan her for a microchip, because all of our animals are microchipped, and we confirmed that it was in fact our precious Kiki!
After vetting Kiki and getting her back up to her normal self, we found out that during her 6 month camping adventure she contracted FIV which is very common on this island. Because of this, she is on oral care cat food as well as an oral rinse. She is a very happy kitty that loves to cuddle with her humans and doesn't let anything stop her! She does have quite the attitude, so she would prefer a home without other animals.
Kiki is once again up for adoption and looking for her the perfect home! If you are interested in adopting her, please reach out to our adoption coordinator or to our Facebook page for more information!
