Dog of the Semester:
Honey!
Honey's Story
Honey came to us in August of 2021, right after the second round of lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As you can see from her ”before” pictures she was in rough shape. She was malnourished, had issues with her eye, had countless skin problems making her uncomfortable and overall needed some serious TLC. The pandemic hit our island very hard and unfortunately it is not uncommon to find beautiful dogs wandering the streets alone looking for help to arrive. Thankfully, Honey found two women of the Rossie family who received CVO permission to help her. They reached out to us and we knew we needed to jump in.
It took several long months of careful feeding schedules, multiple medications and lots of love, but Honey made a complete turn around! She is now a healthy weight of a little over 50 pounds. Honey loves her outdoor adventures and joins her current foster on hikes all over the island! She is leash trained and kennel trained and is waiting for the perfect person to come along to give her a forever home. She does well with other dogs after a slow introduction, but we do not think she would enjoy a home with cats due to her high prey drive. She is on Apoquel daily for her skin allergies, but that does not lessen her love for the outdoors!
If you are interested in meeting Honey or learning more about her, please reach out to our adoption coordinator or message us on Facebook! We want to help her find her person!
